Festival Assistant (2 Positions)
Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival (SOTS) has been producing the works of Shakespeare on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River since 1985. We attract visitors from across the province, the country, and the world. We strive to create a warm, relaxing, and inviting atmosphere for our patrons so they can truly enjoy their theatrical experience. Our Festival Assistants will be an integral part of this vision as they will be responsible for overseeing the Front of House of the Festival.

Working under the supervision of the Festival Coordinator, the Festival Assistant duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Supporting both administration and hospitality components of our summer theatre festival
• Accommodating any site tour request, acting as ambassador to visitors on site
• Ensuring the theatre, concession and grounds are presentable to the public prior to every performance
• Assisting in coordinating emergency procedures for the festival and ensure proper implementation of all COVID-19 protocols
• Front of house duties including:
o Seating patrons in a timely and orderly fashion
o Admitting latecomers
o Assisting patrons needing to exit and enter during performances
o Logging accurate house counts
o Respond to patron inquiries ensuring their comfort and safety at all times
o Supervision of volunteers and providing feedback outlining scope of work accomplished by volunteers
o Using ticketing software to check patron tickets
• Providing customer service support for our onsite concession Sir Toby’s Tavern, including:
o Maintaining a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment
o Processing customer sales transactions through POS systems (Square, Moneris)
o Selling and handling of all food and drink served
o Nightly cash outs
o Daily inventory control
o Maintaining the cleanliness of the concession/bar areas
o Other routine reporting
• Other duties as assigned

HOURS OF WORK: Part-time (25-30 hrs/week), variable hours
RATE OF PAY: $13.00/Hour
APPROXIMATE DURATION: July 12, 2021 to August 29, 2021
APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 19, 2021

Qualifications:
1. Must be at least 19 and 30 years of age or younger as of start of the contract**
2. Possess excellent organizational, supervisory, and communication skills
3. Have an outgoing personality and a penchant for working with members of the public
4. Availability to work evenings and weekends throughout the summer
5. Possess a Serve-It-Right Saskatchewan (SIRS) certificate or able to complete it prior to start of contract
6. Enjoy working outdoors and able to work in inclement weather
7. First Aid or equivalent training will be considered an asset
8. Previous experience working in customer service/hospitality will be considered an asset
9. Post-secondary training in business, finance, and/or theatre will be considered an asset.

**This position is subject to SOTS receiving funding through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. In order to be eligible, applicants must be 30 years old or younger.
