The NIB Trust is seeking a well-organized, detail-oriented Finance Manager/Controller responsible for leading the finance functions for the organization. This role includes providing accurate information to the Executive Director and Board of Trustees including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, investment oversight, and preparing financial reports. In addition to working with the NIB Trust Fund, this person may also be assigned to assist with other First Nations Organizations in a cost-sharing capacity.



Duties include verifying transactions and complying with financial policies and procedures, preparing, verifying, and processing invoices, and coding payment documents. This position will lead the oversight, direction, and management of accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures and the preparation of financial statements and reporting to top management and external parties, and other related duties.

Applicants must possess:

Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics or a related field of study, CPA accreditation with 5 plus years of directly relevant senior experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Holding the Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) designation will be considered an asset.
Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management.
Thorough knowledge of all relevant Charitable, Federal, Provincial, and local requirements regarding financial records and pension is essential.
Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
Awareness of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of First Nations organizational structures key mandates.
Self-motivated, team player excited to work in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and a dedication to accuracy.
A high degree of trust and confidentiality.
Ability to manage multiple projects and follow through in a timely manner.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
Advanced level in computer skills in computerized accounting, spreadsheet and word processing programs, and e-mail.
Demonstrate superior interpersonal & negotiation skills, management ability, leadership, teamwork, and judgment.
English is the working language, the ability to work in both official languages and/or an Indigenous language is an asset.


Salary Range:

To commensurate with job requirements, experience and education (within limits of the salary grid)



Location: Akwesasne, and/or Ottawa, Ontario

Duration: Full-time position
