Our mission
To combine play with education, bridging the gap between school and home and attracting tourists through hands-on exhibits, programs, and outreach that celebrate art, science, technology, and the cultural fabric of Saskatchewan.
Job purpose
Nutrien Wonderhub is currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Summer Program Facilitator. The successful candidate will report to the Programming and Outreach Coordinator and work with a team of staff and volunteers for a museum that aims to foster creativity, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning in children through the exhibits, programming and outreach.
The Summer Program Facilitator’s role is to plan, deliver, and evaluate the programs offered by Nutrien Wonderhub. Programs include delivery of guided activities, crafts, storytelling, STEM challenges, exploration of natural settings, and recycled and new materials that stimulate curiosity through hands on, child guided learning. Daily activities will take place both in the museum and outdoors. The Summer Program Facilitator will work in coordination with other program facilitators to develop content and community programming needs as they evolve over the summer season. The Summer Program Facilitator is expected to engage in a positive manner with all representatives and members of the public as an ambassador for Nutrien Wonderhub.
Duties and responsibilities
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Program Planning
a. Ensure Nutrien Wonderhub’s vision and mission are reflected in the programs (hands-on, inclusive, creative, stimulating, age-appropriate)
b. Read program briefs and help to design materials for delivering programs such as Wonder Camps, museum animations, and outdoor park programs.
c. Make recommendations on updates to program elements, with input from the Programming and Outreach Coordinator
d. Design original content (video, live, print, resources) based on programming goals and schedule.
e. Design programs and learning opportunities that are high-quality, educational and engaging.
f. Provide input to the Programming and Outreach Coordinator on creating the budget for supplies and other program expenses
g. Using supplies and materials to design and create items for program delivery
h. Attend regular team meetings.

2. Program Delivery
a. Ensure that the space designated for program delivery is set up and supplies are prepped
b. Prioritize safety of staff and participants by remaining attentive to surroundings and ensuring proper health and safety protocols are being followed at all times
c. Deliver programs with the goal of engaging participants through positive energy and encouraging them to ask questions and explore materials
d. Encourage participants to join in high-quality, educational opportunities by providing attentive facilitation, engaging spaces and open-ended materials
e. For off-site programs, transport materials to planned location and create a discovery space that allows children to experience a program and return materials back to Nutrien Wonderhub when program is complete
f. Clean and organize programming supplies and space after each program

3. Program Evaluation
a. Establish and monitor indicators of program quality and incorporate into program planning, in collaboration with the Programming and Outreach Coordinator
b. Solicit and record feedback from program attendees
c. Debrief with Programming and Outreach Coordinator after programs and make improvements as needed
d. Assist in the ongoing collection of quotes, stories, data, and photos from attendees who participated in programs for funder reporting and impact measurement/evaluation purposes

4. Other duties as required

Qualifications
The individual will have knowledge of the development, delivery and evaluation of programs for children in non-traditional, informal learning settings which will have been developed through a post-secondary degree in a relevant field and relevant work experience. The individual should possess the ability to work in a team environment with staff, volunteers and the general public, as well as in an independent unsupervised environment. Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment; a commitment to the positive growth and development of children; the ability to think strategically and problem solve; sensitivity to accessibility and inclusion barriers for marginalized children and families; and highly developed interpersonal skills.

Working conditions
This is an 8-week Summer Student Position and applicants need to have completed one full year of education and be returning to school in the fall.
This position works 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, weekdays and weekends. The weekly schedule is based around programming needs.
This position’s wage is hourly - $16
Start Date: July 5, 2021
End Date: August 29, 2021
This position is partially funded by an employment grant with the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or hold refugee status
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be 16-30 years of age at the start of the employment term
- Must commit to the duration of the employment term
- Must not have another job working 30 hrs. or more during the employment term
- Must have been in high school, college or university full time studies the semester before and return to studies after the employment term.
This position requires the following:
- vehicle (Class 5 driver’s license)
- personal transportation to and from the museum site
Travel within Saskatoon is required to fulfill duties.

This sometimes involves facilitating fun in hot, cold, light, dark, quiet, loud, and virtualenvironments. This position also typically involves extended periods of sitting and physical movement such as walking, lifting, bending, kneeling and carrying items over distance.
