Do you like to build relationships and develop connections with people? Are you motivated to find ways to brighten our communities by expanding and exploring storytelling, heritage, and community building? Do you take pride in the broad expanse of knowledge that different cultures bring to the province of Saskatchewan?

At the Museums Association of Saskatchewan (MAS), we are working to hire a more inclusive body of employees to help us focus on all the cultures and traditions of Treaty people in our province. MAS's work and support reaches the lands covered by Treaties 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 10, the traditional lands of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the Metis Michif Nation.

We are seeking a full-time, permanent Community Engagement Lead to join our team. The Community Engagement Lead is an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, capable of working effectively with individuals from a wide range of communities and cultures.

Our Community Engagement Lead helps museums across the province continue developing their services, expanding their outreach, and finding new paths to build new connections in their communities. They are passionate about culture, including arts and heritage, and excited to assist members throughout the province as we work to continually broaden community engagement with their museums’ stories and collections. We constantly work to help our members expand and develop our collective cultural knowledge of both tangible and intangible heritage. We are looking for an individual with communication and social media management skills who loves to work with people, brainstorm for ideas, and help cultural organizations continually grow.

Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and member groups
Conceptualize, design, and produce communications materials in print and digital formats, including website content, social media posts, newsletters, member reports, publications, brochures, advertising copy, etc.
Oversee and monitor all MAS communications activities related to programs and services
Event planning, including the annual conference, symposia, etc.
Provide staff support to regional Member Networks and our Community Chat programs
Oversee MAS social media accounts and coordinate the production of content Participate in planning, evaluation, and budget preparation for Community Engagement and communications programs and activities
Represent MAS at public and member events

Tell us about your training and experience in these areas. If you have examples of projects like these, be sure to include them in your application. We are looking for:

Strong relationship-building skills, especially working with individuals from a range of communities and cultures
Strong critical thinking skills with an emphasis on creative thinking
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
Demonstrated self-starter, with the ability to be flexible and work well as a member of a team
Strong computer and technical skills, including:
developing social marketing across various channels, including paid advertising (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
Website maintenance and monitoring
Providing technical support for online public presentations/events
Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design for both digital and print
Experience in using web-based tools such as MailChimp, Zoom and Canva
Familiarity with the Saskatchewan nonprofit and cultural sector, including the arts and heritage of our multicultural and Indigenous communities
Willingness to travel within the province utilizing MAS vehicle
The starting salary for this position is $44,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package. This role works primarily in our office, which is located in Regina on Treaty 4 territory. Opportunities for remote work arrangements can be discussed.
