The Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan is looking for an out-going, motivated, organized, creative, innovative and highly skilled individual to join our Newcomer Settlement Services and Cultural Development teams. This full-time position is responsible for coordination of UCC Saskatchewan’s English Language Training as well as special projects within our Cultural Development program.

About the Position

Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with evening and weekend work as required
Compensation: UCC Saskatchewan offers a competitive compensation package that includes medical, disability and life insurance as well as a pension plan.

UCC Saskatchewan provides English Language Training as well as supports Ukrainian cultural development. This full-time Coordinator position is responsible for the coordination of these two areas.

Areas of Responsibility

1. English Language Training Program
• Assist newcomer clients develop their English language skills/capacity through the delivery of UCC Saskatchewan’s English for Employment programming;
• Coordinate program logistics (eg.: venues, student recruitment, childminding, etc);
• Program marketing (print, social media and other methods);
• Explore new opportunities for program enhancement/development;
• Coordinate instructor recruitment, orientation and scheduling;
• Maintain Best Practices Standards for program polices and procedures;
• Prepare all necessary narrative and statistical reports;
• Develop partnerships with other service providers and relevant agencies/stakeholders;
• Work within program budget; assist with fundraising.

2. Cultural Development Coordination
• Support UCC Saskatchewan 50th anniversary special projects including book publishing project and Eaton Exhibit grand opening;
• Coordinate Hromada Legacy Fund community grants program;
• Recruit and supervise UCC Saskatchewan’s summer students;
• Support Nation Builders & Community Recognition Awards program
• Prepare necessary statistical and narrative reports;
• Work within program budgets; and
• Promote related cultural development (print, social media and other methods).

Skills, Training & Qualifications
• Post-secondary education required. Humanities (Languages, Linguistics) and/or Education preferred;
• English as an Additional Language or language teaching experience/training;
• Adult Education teaching experience and/or training will be considered an asset;
• Fluency in English and Ukrainian (reading, writing, speaking) required; capacity in additional languages is an asset;
• Experienced in MS Office suite including Office 365;
• Strong research and analytical skills;
• Effective budget management skills;
• A motivated and confident individual with strong interpersonal skills and is a team player;
• Well organized, an effective administrator and time manager;
• Superior verbal and written communication skills;
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required; and
• Holds a valid Driver’s licence and is able to travel.


Eligibility
Eligible candidates must be a either a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or otherwise legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
