CONTRACT POSITION

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan is looking to contract a Program Facilitator for our 2023 season. This individual would be responsible for and would oversee our Emerging Artists Program and the Players’ Stage Series.

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival has been producing the works of William Shakespeare in repertory on Treaty 6 territory on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River since 1985, attracting over 10,000 visitors provincially, nationally, and internationally annually to our summer festival. With a mandate to celebrate Saskatchewan artists we are particularly interested in hearing from artists living in or with deep roots in Saskatchewan.

Timeline: January 2023-September 2023. Although most of this contract will occur during the summer, there will be some preliminary requirement as well as a debrief period.

Roles and Responsibilities: To oversee and guide both programs below.

Emerging Artist Program
-Assist with the application and selection process.
-Connect emerging artists with a mentor or mentors as appropriate.
-Check in with emerging artists weekly (during the summer season) either via email, phone or in person as required.
-To ensure the RBC Emerging Artist grant requirements are being fulfilled.
-To write the final report for the RBC Emerging Artist Grant.

Players Stage Series
-Assist with the application and selection process.
-Be responsible for managing the budget for this program.
-Schedule and execution of the Players’ Stage Series program.
-Facilitate Artists arrival and set up on site during the season.
-Facilitate communication and needs between the Artists and Theatre.
-To ensure the spirit of the series to celebrate diverse artists and provide free arts programming to underserved citizens of Saskatoon is fulfilled.
- To provide statistical information on the Players’ Series
-To write the final report for the City of Saskatoon Community Lotteries grant.

Who is Eligible?
Individuals who reside in Saskatchewan are invited to submit. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

- Knowledge of Theatre and Artistic Community
- Critical and creative thinker
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to work with limited supervision while meeting firm deadlines
- Comfort and knowledge with standard theatrical equipment including lights and audio
Qualifications
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- 1 to 3 years’ experience producing live events
- 18 years or older

Contract Fee: $6,000
