Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the General Manager
General Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the management of volunteer services for each musical theatre production produced by Saskatoon Summer Players.  The Volunteer Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring proper volunteer records are maintained and assisting with other general administrative tasks as necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Maintaining a database of SSP volunteers (past, present and potential)
- Surveying and gathering feedback from SSP volunteers (past, present and potential)
- Working with the Artistic Team of each production to place volunteers in production positions
- Recruiting new volunteers
- Ensuring volunteers have signed all SSP documents and waivers, and paid membership fees
- Distributing complimentary tickets to volunteers, sponsors, and dignitaries
- Planning and coordinating volunteer appreciation events
- Assisting with other administrative tasks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Well-organized
- Knowledge of volunteer engagement and retention strategies
- Knowledge of Saskatoon Summer Players is considered an asset
- Able to take direction
- Able to follow instructions with minimal additional supervision

Education, License/Certification and Experience Requirements:
- Experience in non-profit environment, volunteer coordination, and/or performance industry considered an asset
- Some post-secondary training 
- Proficient in Microsoft Software, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), MailChimp, and Survey Software
- Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Persons Sector Search (cost covered by employer for the selected applicant)
- Driver’s License an asset
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:
This position does require sedentary activity (approximately 75%).  Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Anticipated Start Date: May 10, 2017
Work Hours/Schedule:
Flexible schedule with some work-from-home opportunities. 
This is a short-term contract position which entails working an average of 10 hours per week until July 15th, 2017.  There is a possibility for an extension, dependent on the success of a recent grant application.  If the grant application is successful, the Volunteer Coordinator position will be increased to 15 hours per week as of mid-August, and the contract will be extended for an additional 48 weeks. 
Some evening and weekend work required.
Commensurate with experience and in line with the industry standard.
