Secret Gardens Tour Assistant Coordinator

The Secret Gardens Tour Assistant Coordinator is responsible, with the NDH Staff, for the coordination of New Dance Horizons' annual fundraiser, The Secret Gardens Tour, as well as creating festival-related sponsorship opportunities and social media campaigns.

New Dance Horizons’ Secret Gardens Tour (SGT) is a self-guided pilgrimage through some of Regina’s most diverse privately owned gardens. NDH Artistic Director Robin Poitras believes, “Gardens, like contemporary dance, transform throughout the seasons, yet remain constant underneath, in spirit and imagination.” The NDH Secret Gardens Tour is an unforgettable summer experience held rain or shine, and is an important fundraising venture for New Dance Horizons, with all funds raised sustaining our ongoing programming. First launched in 1997, the SGT has become a regular feature of summers in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities include:

Volunteer Coordination
• Recruit, orient and train garden volunteers
• Assign volunteer tasks and responsibilities
• Track volunteer hours

Garden Management
• Work with the garden committee to coordinate gardens
• Liaise with gardeners about event preparations and activities
• Supply gardeners with information and resources

Fundraising Support
• Work with the garden committee to plan fundraising initiatives
• Work with NDH staff to track donations and sponsorship opportunities
• Represent the organization positively and professionally

Event Management
• Attend and coordinate the event in collaboration with NDH's Artistic Director
• Facilitate event set-up and tear-down

Sponsorship Development
• In collaboration with NDH's Artistic Director, Robin Poitras, liaise with sponsors to secure support for the 28th Season Performing Series and The Secret Garden Tour
• Develop outreach materials to distribute to potential and returning sponsors
• Research and meet with potential sponsors to secure support for NDH activities

Audience Development
• Work with NDH staff to update information on the organization’s website
• Scan and edit images for on-line public archive
• Develop outreach materials for NDH to distribute at events and workshops, such as pamphlets and flyers

Social Media Outreach
• Work with NDH staff to document and share NDH activities on Facebook, Twitter and the web
• Work with key NDH staff to innovate new ways to reach out to Saskatchewan residents

Shared Responsibilities
• Work collectively with NDH staff to answer phones, help with office maintenance and participate in informal weekly staff meetings

Eligible candidates must be Saskatchewan residents and returning full-time students, 15 years or older. This position is 30 hours a week at $14/hr.
