Executive Director, part-time, Prairie Wind & Silver Sage

Prairie Wind & Silver Sage - Friends of Grasslands, Val Marie
Deadline: November 22, 2017 - December 31, 2017

Name: Laureen Marchand

December 31, 2017

Prairie Wind & Silver Sage - Friends of Grasslands, a non-profit, charitable, provincially recognized ecomuseum located in Val Marie, Saskatchewan, is hiring a part-time Executive Director to work closely with the PWSS Board of Directors toward our successful and lively future. The position will appeal to an energetic and self-directed person with enthusiasm for heritage, the environment and the arts. Work hours are 415 per year or a flexible average of 8 hours per week; some periods will require more hours than others and some on-site availability is necessary during the May to September season. Pay is $22 to $25 hourly depending on qualifications and experience, plus standard benefits. Initial appointment is for one year, renewable pending funding.

PWSS is a board-directed volunteer organization working hand in hand with our community and Grasslands National Park to promote the conservation of native prairie landscapes while inviting the exploration and appreciation of prairie culture and natural history. Programs include museum and art exhibitions, a book and gift store and espresso cafe, visitor information service, and public events, all under the ecomuseum concept. Over 5,000 people walked through our doors in summer 2017 and growth is expected to continue.

While residence in Val Marie is not required for this position, the community is inexpensive, safe, beautifully located, and ideal for creative and independent persons. Assistance with finding accommodation, either permanent or occasional, can be provided.

The ideal candidate has experience in leadership and administration, funding development including grants and sponsorship, and human resources management. Knowledge of museum and or retail/food service operations, building management, public relations, computer and Internet uses, and/or demonstrated interest and ability to learn, is an asset. Minimum education is grade 12; a university degree in a related field is preferred.
