The new Nutrien Children’s Discovery Museum is looking for a new team member to help our organization as we transition into our new home at the Mendel building. Our mission is to nurture creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in children. POSITION: Temporary Museum Manager
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: full-time temporary
START DATE: March 15, 2018
PAY SCALE: $18 – 20 per hour, DOE

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager’s role is to ensure the efficient operation of the Children’s Discovery Museum’s Market Mall location, including general administration, visitor services, maintenance of premises, management of staff, and oversight of exhibits, programming and outreach.

MAIN RESPSONSIBILITIES:
Administration:
1. Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the CDM:
a. Ensure maintenance and cleaning of the premises to the highest standards
b. Manage the opening and closing procedures
c. Ensure that all records relating to visitor services and admissions are retained and organized
d. Ensure proper data entry and back-up of electronic files
e. Purchase and maintain supplies needed for the functioning of the museum
2. Assist Executive Director with policy and procedure development and implementation
3. Maintain CDM event calendars and facebook page with regards to operations, programming, and outreach.
Human Resources:
4. Hire, orientate, and manage ongoing performance of staff and volunteers with input from the Executive Director as needed.
a. Implement performance evaluation process for staff, including assessment of learning and development needs
b. Communicate relevant policies, programs, and organizational updates to staff
c. Manage museum scheduling, ensuring adequate staffing to cover museum hours, group bookings, birthday parties, outreach, programming, and rentals
d. Oversee staff leave and vacation
5. Maintain accurate, confidential personnel records on all staff
6. Maintain the staff manual
7. Plan and execute monthly staff meetings
Financial:
8. Administer petty cash according to established procedures
9. Assist with the preparation of and maintain the budget for the Market Mall museum
10. Assist with financial reporting as required for Board of Directors and funding agencies
11. Serve as signatory on CDM bank accounts
Visitor Services:
12. Welcome visitors to the CDM and attend to their needs during their visit
13. Serve as primary contact for group bookings, parties, and rentals, providing information, scheduling, taking deposits, and handling special requests
14. Address complaints and conflict resolution in an effective and timely manner

15. Collaborate with senior leadership on planning, securing funding, delivery and evaluation for current and new programs
16. Any additional duties as requested by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Solid knowledge of administrative, human resources, and customer service processes; Supervisory experience; experience in customer service and management; competency with Microsoft Office Suite and social media applications; a completed criminal records check within the past 6 months.
