Saskatchewan Festival of Words: Summer Intern

This position is a component of the Student Employment Program, which is dependent on government funding.

Government funders state that applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. Applicants must also be between the ages of 15 and 30 and returning to full-time studies following the period of employment.

As an official intern and/or marketing intern at our Festival you will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and the Operations Coordinator. The Festival Interns will be responsible for supporting Festival staff to help ensure the successful execution of the 22nd annual Saskatchewan Festival of Words in Moose Jaw.

Tasks will include, but not be limited to:
• Assisting with the administration and development of a marketing campaign
• Working within an existing marketing budget
• Assisting with reviewing graphic design work, developing promotional materials, and distribution
• Assisting with the acquisition, organization, and management of paid advertising and in-kind goods and/or services
• The coordination, implementation, training, and supervision of volunteers
• The management and overseeing of an individual event, our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
• Acting as Festival Ambassadors in our community
• Assisting with staging, signage, scheduling, and public and presenter relations at the Festival
• Administrative duties: newsletters, issue receipts, update databases, and other duties

Note: The interns will be required to keep accurate computerized transaction records, and submit a written progress report and self-evaluation to the government funders upon completion of the program.

Required qualifications:
• second year (or higher) registered post-secondary student returning to full-time studies in the fall
• strong oral and written communication skills
• interest and/or experience in promotions, event planning, marketing, creative writing, arts
• enjoys – and may have experience – working with a variety of people of all age groups
• pays careful attention to detail
• possesses basic computer literacy and knowledge of social media (Mac experience an asset)

Duration of Employment: May 7th to July 27th, 30 hours/week, hourly wage. Hours of work may vary.
