THE BROADWAY THEATRE
Friends of the Broadway Theatre, is a non-profit, community-owned organization with charitable status, dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Saskatoon’s historic Broadway Theatre, a civically and federally recognized heritage building. The Theatre is a 430-seat venue for live music, film, dance, theatre, comedy and both community and private events. It plays a significant role as a community arts and culture centre.

WINTERRUPTION is a multi-day, multi-venue festival that seeks to celebrate the fact that Saskatoon is a Winter City. We program a wide range of live performances that will engage and entertain a diverse group of preferences in venues throughout the city and a two-day outdoor festival that features diverse cultureal activites that seek to help build community.

Job Description
If you love arts and culture and are interested in making a difference in Saskatoon’s cultural landscape, we would love to hear from you. We are seeking an energetic, innovative and entrepreneurial individual to fill the role of Winterruption Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment, scheduling, and coordination of volunteers for Winterruption 2019. Mentorship from The Broadway Theatre volunteer coordinator, as well as the administrative and programming staff for Winterruption. The ideal candidate has previous festival or administrative experience. They are a natural problem solver and love to work with a passionate team in high-pressure situations.
Key Role/Responsibilities/ Activities/ Deliverables:
Pre Winterruption November 1st-January 12th (10 hrs per week)
•Enlist engaged volunteers for festival dates;
•Design volunteer schedule as appropriate per each venue;
•Update and streamline volunteer guidelines and expectations manual;
•Maintain consistent, informative and professional communication with all registered volunteers;
•Organize the volunteer headquarters;
•Arrange the volunteer orientation event;
•Coordinate volunteer perks and merchandise;
•Other related duties as assigned.
Winterruption January 13th-27th (30 hrs per week)
•Maintain consistent, informative and professional communication with all volunteer participants;
•Coordinate volunteer check-in and registration;
•Resolve conflicts as they arise (no-shows, last minute cancellations, etc);
•Ensure each venue is properly supported with appropriate volunteers;
•Coordinate outdoor volunteer needs (beverage backpacks, assigned duties, etc);
•Additional tasks and assistance, as required;
•Arrange Volunteer appreciation event, included as part of the Winterruption after-party.
Post-Winterruption January 28th-30th
•Conduct Volunteer follow-up survey
•Participate in debriefing with fellow Winterruption staff
•Provide follow-up report on potential future improvements of the Winterruption Volunteer Programming
What is required from a candidate:
•Exceptional people management experience
•Solid verbal communication skills;
•A track-record of being a team player who can lead and be an exceptional contributor;
•Strong work ethic, attention to detail, flexibility, good time-management skills and the ability to work to a deadline;
•The ability to work evenings and weekends during Winterruption;
•Possess a valid Class 5 drivers license
•Passionate about working in a thriving, non-profit, community-owned, arts and culture organization
