The Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan (UCC Saskatchewan) is a provincial organization that provides programs and services for the Saskatchewan community to maintain, develop and share its Ukrainian Canadian identity and aspirations.

As part of our newcomer settlement outreach program, UCC Saskatchewan provides both English as an Additional Language instruction through its English for Employment program as well as Translation & Interpretation Services. The Language Services Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of these services guided by UCC Saskatchewan’s current Strategic Plan as well as the program outcomes outlined in the funder agreements with the Government of Saskatchewan Ministry of Immigration and Career Training.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Translation & Interpretation (T&I) Service Coordination

• Providing quality and professional translation and interpretation services for Ukrainian and other newcomers and their families;
• Management of a province-wide pool of qualified translators and interpreters;
• Acting as a linguistic resource for newcomers and family members in accessing necessary settlement services;
• Maintaining Best Practices Standards for written translation and oral interpretation;
• Developing partnerships for professional development training;
• Preparing necessary progress reports that include both statistical and narrative information;
• Program financial oversight;
• Program marketing that includes networking, social media and other methods;
• Exploring partnerships with other relevant settlement and other agencies/stakeholders.

2. English Language Training Program

• Assisting newcomer clients develop skills and abilities related to English for the workplace;
• Delivering two streams of English for Employment programming (Standard and Enhanced);
• Coordinating program logistics ie. (venues, program marketing, student recruitment, instructor scheduling and recruitment, childminding services and the intake process);
• Conducting instructor program orientation;
• Preparing necessary narrative and statistical reports; and
• Overseeing of program expenses in relation to budget.

SKILLS, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary education - Humanities, Social Sciences, Education and/or Administrative disciplines preferred;
• English as an Additional Language and/or language teaching experience and/or training;
• Adult Education teaching experience and/or training will be considered an asset;
• Fluency in English and Ukrainian (reading, writing, speaking)
• Good understanding of volunteerism in the non-profit sector;
• Experienced with MS Office products, a self-starter in learning new software;
• Strong researching and analytical skills;
• Effective budgeting and budget management skills;
• Ability to create clear, concise and accurate reports related to key responsibilities;
• Strong interpersonal skills; confident team worker;
• Well organized with effective administrative, research and time management skills;
• Tactful, diplomatic, motivated, confident, attentive to detail;
• Superior verbal and written communication skills;
• Fluency in additional languages will be considered an asset;
• Ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary; and
• Driver’s licence car, able to travel


ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or a person who is legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
