Reporting to Accounting Manager, the position is primarily responsible for Payroll Processing, support in HR Activities and assists in coordinating HR Policies, Account Payables and Accounts Receivables.

Responsibilities will include:

• Prepare and process payroll for staff, contractors and artists adhering to all collective agreements.
• Work with Managers on employee recruitment, on-boarding new employees, and time-approval troubleshooting.
• Maintain payroll and HR records including vacation, Sick and Overtime for all staff and contracts, artists in a secure and orderly manner.
• Prepare and file T4s, T4As, Records of Employment and Payroll and other remittances as per government requirements.
• Perform Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions in AccPac including coding invoices, data entry, Bank/Bar Deposit, EFT payments, filling and producing and mailing cheques.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and adhoc reporting related to payroll, time and attendance, budget, FTE, workforce utilization etc.
• Maintenance and security of personnel records by maintaining paper, computer and document imaging of personnel records and files in accordance with guidelines set by Revenue Canada; ensuring confidentiality of employee files by following security procedures
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies, programs and procedures.
• Create and post job postings for available job opportunities and draft job descriptions as required.
• Assist in the recruitment, selection and training processes. Supply employee assistance as required regarding payroll, benefits, general inquires, etc. – written or verbal.
• Administration of RRSP and Benefit Program and preparation of group premium and RRSP reconciliations.
• Review and follow-up with new hire employee about any change in documentation and update HRMS employee files and payroll software.
• Manage employee benefit enrollments and claim processes for WCB and Group Benefits.
• Taking on projects as directed by the company executive management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


Desired Skills and Experience

• HR/Business/Accounting Diploma or related program
• Minimum 2-3 years Human Resources Development and Payroll run experience (preferably related to unionized payroll); or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong accounting and payroll skills with excellent attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that meet the professional standard of the role and the company
• Numeric Knowledge at least intermediate Excel skills are required (ability to manipulate data as needed). Knowledge and understanding of government regulations concerning payroll
• Experienced with Sage AccPac, HRMS and Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills and a willingness to learn
