We are looking for a Museums Advisor!
To be employed by the Museums Association of Saskatchewan is to:
• Work with 250 museums in the province on a wide array of topics;
• Contribute to the stewardship and sharing of Saskatchewan’s rich heritage, current life and the cultural diversity of its people;
• Enjoy an inclusive, dynamic and stimulating work environment;
• Work with professionals who form a team and where your contribution is important and appreciated;
• Work to build lasting, intercultural relationships within MAS and the museum sector;
• Be able to develop your full potential while performing interesting and varied tasks;
• Advocate professional museum standards and practices;

As the Museums Advisor, you will be responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of all advisory/consultation programs and services including:
• Manage SaskCollections including planning, evaluation, budget preparation and implementation;
• Collaborate with MAS staff, volunteers, members and stakeholders in planning, development and implementations of MAS activities and services;
• Conduct a range of consultation services targeting member museums including on-site visits, correspondence (email) and telephone;
• Develop and oversee the production of resource materials including manuals, guides, videos and templates for both print and online publication;
• Oversee review/revision of Standards document;
• Participate in the research and writing of funding applications and follow-up reports;
Qualifications/Competencies:
- Applicable university degree or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience;
- Sound knowledge of the broad range of museum operational practices;
- Sound knowledge of, and experience with, collections management database software;
- Practical experience with non-profit organizations and community volunteer groups;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong critical thinking skills with an emphasis on ‘thinking outside the box’;
- Familiarity with museum community;
- Demonstrated planning, evaluation, organizational, and time-management skills;
- Demonstrated self-starter;
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced team environment;
- Sense of humour;
- Valid driver’s licence and a willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.
Location: Regina, Saskatchewan
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary range: $44,000 - $60,000
