Saskatchewan Publishers Group/SaskBooks offers an opportunity for a new position to commence April 1, 2020

The Saskatchewan Publishers Group, aka SaskBooks, is the creative industry association for book publishers in the province of Saskatchewan. Based in Regina, SaskBooks is a dynamic and fun workplace environment that supports and advocates for Saskatchewan book publishers and the Saskatchewan publishing industry.

Skill Set
The ideal candidate will be able to work under pressure, be a consummate self-starter, and an excellent team player. Used to working in a flexible and changing environment, the Communications Officer will be responsible for presenting the outward-looking face of SaskBooks and the industry to the larger community, provincially, nationally, and internationally. Experience with the not-for-profit sector and book publishing industries would be a benefit.
Experience working with Google Suite, image processing software (including, but not limited to Adobe suite, Canva, Gimp), spreadsheets, and cloud-based workflow is an asset.

Job Description
Responsible for developing and maintaining media contacts, producing regular media releases and follow-up, social media activity on behalf of the association, and advertising.
Responsible for assisting with all aspects of the preparation of the annual Read Saskatchewan catalogue and the Teach Saskatchewan resource.
Responsible for contracting and working with freelancers to produce and distribute book reviews of Saskatchewan-published books.
Representing SaskBooks on the Saskatchewan Book Awards board.
Preparing communication including the bi-monthly newsletter and regular updates for the members-only listserv.
Assisting with event organization including the Annual Conference, Professional Development sessions, and Saskatchewan Book Week.
Assisting with displays and sales, attending board meetings, and assisting staff and board in other tasks as they arise.
Some travel may be required.

Salary Range
$35,000 - $40,000
