The Gordon Snelgrove Gallery is hiring a Gallery and Collection Assistant to research artwork and artists using the gallery’s collection database, prepare and post photographic documentation to the gallery website, including written descriptions, curate posts for social media, and perform various other gallery-related tasks as they arise.

The Gordon Snelgrove Gallery is located in the Murray Building alongside the Department of Art and Art History and is both a teaching facility and public gallery. It provides a venue for new work by artists and curators and operates as a site of direct exchange with the local arts ecology.

Because of the pandemic, the job interview will be conducted as a remote conference or phone call. The successful candidate can expect to be supervised and work from home using remote conference software.

This position is supported by Young Canada Works (YCW). Candidates must ensure they are registered in the YCW online candidate inventory and meet all program eligibility criteria (see Candidate Eligibility).

Qualifications for the position:

Working towards a degree in: Visual Art, Art History, Cultural Studies or related discipline. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills: text, data and image-manipulation software (e.g.: MS Word, Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, MS Excel etc.). Ability to self-mange, problem-solve and work both independently and with others.
