Job Openings (3): Archival Processing Clerks – Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan, Regina, SK

The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan (PAS) is seeking three (3) term Archival Processing Clerks to assist with the processing of its Homestead Record digital collection. The collection, of approximately 5 million images, was digitized over a ten year period, but requires a significant amount of post-production work before being made available for research use. The homestead records are one of the Archives' most popular collections.

The clerks will arrange, describe the digital records, create alternate images, and store the images within the PAS digital repository.
Candidates require general knowledge of prairie regional and Saskatchewan history; organizational and time management skills; knowledge of office and administrative techniques, procedures and protocols in order to organize and perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Candidates require knowledge of computer databases; word processing software; scanning software; spreadsheet software; internet/browsers, including being able to input, update, edit, retrieve, maintain, merge, format and transmit information/data using a variety of hardware, software and/or electronic systems with speed and accuracy. In addition, experience working with image manipulation software such as PhotoShop or Irfanview would be an asset.

Candidates need to be able to work independently and/or as a contributing member of a team to complete work assignments, achieve common goals, and contribute towards a positive work environment. Candidates should be attentive to detail; need to be able to identify, clarify and analyze relevant issues, concerns or problems; and need to be flexible and innovative in order to work in a changeable environment.

Candidates must:
• Be registered for the Young Canada Works (YCW) in Heritage Organizations (YCWHO) program;
• Be between the ages of 16 and 30 at the start of the work term;
• Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada. Note: Non-Canadian students or graduates holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible; and
• Be a student and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.
