CHRC is a registered national arts service organization with charitable status. Its Mission
is to strengthen the Canadian cultural workforce by providing leadership and innovative
solutions to human resource issues and to better the HR environment within the cultural
sector.
Through its volunteer Board of Directors and broad national network, CHRC works for
and with all the cultural industries and arts disciplines in the cultural sector (in both
official languages) including the Live Performing Arts; Writing and Publishing; Visuals
Arts and Crafts; Film, Television and Broadcasting; Digital Media; Music and Sound
Recording; and Heritage. CHRC also works on cross-sector issues such as Cultural
Management, Career Management and Export Marketing.
Two activity streams exist to help post-secondary education students gain work-ready skills to
integrate more rapidly into the workforce.
Activity Stream 1:
Create more work placements for PSE students
Activity Steam 2:
Establish partnerships between educators and employers
Eligible employers:
● Employers of all sizes in the cultural sector
● Participants can be for-profit and not-for-profit organizations
● Federal, Provincial, Territorial and Municipal Governments are not eligible
Placement Types
●Internship
●Practicum
●Co op Education
●Entrepreneurship
●Field Placement
Wage Subsidy
●Up to 75% of wages (maximum $7,500)
SWP/WIL placement objectives include students in the
following funding priority groups
● 10% for Indigenous students
● 10% for BPOC students
● 5% for persons with disabilities
● 5% for official language minority
