56th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Archaeological Association

The Saskatchewan Archaeological Society, in collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan Department of Anthropology is honoured to host the 56th Annual Canadian Archaeological Association (CAA) conference. This conference will see guests from across Canada and the United States as well as international visitors gathering from May 01st – 05th, 2024 at the Delta Marriott Hotel Downtown in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This is a great opportunity for businesses and organizations to show commitment and support for this endeavour and we are looking for sponsors to showcase the best of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and the heritage community.

Founded in 1968, the CAA is Canada’s national archaeological organization whose membership includes professional, avocational, and student archaeologists, as well as members of the public, from any country, who support the objectives of the Association. These objectives include promoting activities advantageous to archaeological heritage, sharing archaeological information, and encouraging discourse and discussion among societies and agencies in the promotion of archaeological research and conservation. The CAA also works to foster cooperation and collaboration with Indigenous Peoples and to stimulate interest in and understanding of archaeology for the general public. For more information on the CAA, please check them out here: https://canadianarchaeology.com/caa.

The CAA conference was last held in Saskatchewan 27 years ago and we are excited to once again bring together archaeologists, students, heritage practitioners, community members, and the public for this event. We are looking forward to having this be a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible experience with a mix of academic style presentations, plenary speakers, workshops, social events, and tours
