2024 - Present
Yvonne just completed a term as President on the board of her local museum - Fort Pelly-Livingstone Museum. She served in this position for six years after a fire totally destroyed the museum. There is now a building and functioning museum. Although COIVD has been very destructive, the museum has carried on! Did you know that the Fort was the very first Capitol of the North West Territories! This is an unknown fact that the museum has been attempting to change. Yvonne was also involved in the ceremony, story-telling, dance, and food during Indigenous Days and Culture Days. Read more

Jan believes that Saskatchewan’s strength and potential are reflected in its vibrant cultural community. Over the years, Jan has tried to find ways to contribute to this cultural community as an artist, cultural worker, and most often as a volunteer. By sharing her time and experiences through volunteer work, Jan hopes to create cultural opportunities for others like those that she has benefited from over the years. Read more

Sekwun Ahenakew began her journey in cultural activities as a performer, deeply rooted in the traditions and practices of the Ahtahkakoop Cree; and over the years, she transitioned to organizing cultural events and initiatives. Actively involved with various organizations, she held leadership roles that allowed her to advocate for preserving and promoting Indigenous peoples. Read more

Erin has been a lifelong Saskatchewan resident, retired from a career in federal policing and onto a second career as a business owner/contract service provider in the human resource industry; she investigates policy breaches. Erin lives in rural Saskatchewan, north of Regina, with her husband and daughter. She has three additional children and a granddaughter. She owns a horse stable and is very involved with local farm/ranch culture and rural vitalization. Erin was a board member with Heritage Saskatchewan from 2017 to 2025, having moved out of the past president's chair. She remains a member of Heritage Saskatchewan. Read more

As an emerging, independent film producer, Tyson is interested in the sharing of culture and believe wholeheartedly in the benefit of multiculturalism. As a father of three, he is committed to cultural and art-focused organizations. They are an interracial family, and he understands the need to share and support culture broadly within our community. Tyson has much experience with governance boards and can bring that experience to help SaskCulture's board. He is a multi-passionate generalist with focus on relationships, collaboration and creativity. Read more

Kayla is currently residing on Treaty Six Territory and Homeland of the Métis in Saskatoon. She currently works as the Social Worker for Oskayak High School and actively participates in ceremonies and volunteers her time within the school to assist students in regalia making, ribbon skirts/shirts, sweat lodges, and cultural advisors. She also actively volunteers in the community with Elders and knowledge keepers, and is a pipe carrier. Read more

Jenni would be honoured to serve on the SaskCulture Board as the Métis community of interest. She believes her experience as an entrepreneur, who has been using music and art to elevate dining experiences since 2005, would be useful. Jenni’s work takes her all over Saskatchewan and she is aware of its geographical and cultural diversity. She served on a municipal council for a three-year term (Birch Hills), was on Slow Food Saskatoon's steering committee, was executive of Métis Local #126, and is on the Indigenous Culinary of Associated Nations Board as a Director (2020 to present). Les is a retired Conservation Officer and lives in Creighton, Saskatchewan. He retired in 2010 after a 36 plus year career with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment as a Conservation Officer and Compliance Manager. After graduating from the Canora Composite High School in 1970 Les completed one year of Arts and Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan in 1971. He went on to graduate from the Kelsey Institute of Arts and Sciences in Saskatoon, with a Diploma in Renewable Resources Technology, in 1973 after having spent the summers of 1972 and 1973 working at Tsiigehtchic (Arctic Red River), N.W.T. Christine is always amazed by the collaboration of Saskatchewan people. There are so many people who have a heartstring cause and many of these groups somehow intersects with others - which promotes this amazing synergy that you don’t find in other places. Having been born and raised in Saskatoon by Dutch immigrant parents, she understands how important these connections can be. She saw her father, Henk Ruys, with a vision of a first indoor soccer centre in Saskatoon, make it a reality by collaborating with only Saskatchewan supporters. Read more
