CERB to be Expanded
The federal government announced an expansion to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit today.
Seasonal workers and those who have recently run out of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits are now eligible to apply for CERB. In addition, people who make less than $1,000 a month can now apply. This includes artists who receive payments from royalities, part-time work, and honorariums.
A wage boost was also announced for essential workers who make less than $2,500 a month, including those who work in long-term care facilities.
