Federal Government Appoints Special Interlocutor

The Government of Canada appointed Kimberly Murray, a Mohawk woman originally from Kanehsatake, to serve as Special Interlocutor in a two-year term to coordinate the government's response to unmarked graves that have been identified at Residential School sites across Canada. Murray will work with Indigenous communities to draw up recommendations to strengthen federal laws and practices with regards to the unmarked burial sites, while also working on identification of graves and potential repatriation of remains.
