Rosemaling is a traditional Norwegian Decorative folk art. It was popular in Norway from 1700 to 1850 when machine-made items became widely available. Norwegian artists have recently revived the art form and it's popularity is rising in North america.
Rosemaling consists of 5 basic painting strokes, bold shapes with delicate lines, a limited palate of contrasting colors, and the use of borders of color or design to frame the main motif.
This workshop teaches the basics of Rosemaling. Participants will use oil paints to transform a small wooden tray into a work of art
