Power and Privilege in Saskatchewan Museums Discussion Circle
Volunteers needed!
The DCC is hosting a discussion circle of 20 people to:
• Evaluate the exhibit “Opikinawasowin: Growing Métis Children” developed by the DCC in partnership with Métis artist Leah Marie Dorion,
• Discuss museum engagement with Indigenous communities, and
• Discuss active participation in reconciliation and anti-racism in Saskatchewan museums.
Reimbursements will be available to participants travelling from outside of Saskatoon.
In the spirit of ‘nothing about us without us’, the discussion will be guided by Indigenous Elders who have agreed to share their knowledge in this project and will include the opportunity to discuss the Opikinawasowin exhibit with the featured artist. There is a minimum of 10 spots reserved for Indigenous, Métis, and Inuit individuals to ensure there is equitable representation and the Elders will assist in interpreting the data for the final published results.
If you are interested in taking part or would like to know more information, please email Helanna Gessner at helanna.gessner@usask.ca or call 306-966-8383.
