Healing Through Tattoos: A Conversation with Arielle Racette
Join a discussion with tattoo artist Arielle Racette on access, healing, and tattooing.
This event will take place in the gallery as a complimentary experience to the exhibition If You Prick Me Do I Not Bleed?
Tattoo artist Arielle Racette will lead a discussion around accessibility practices and techniques in tattooing. The number of participants is limited to ensure a safe, confidential, and intimate discussion.
Although to some, it may seem ironic to claim that tattoos can heal, Racette has witnessed how tattooing can give clients confidence, the ability to recover from-or cope with-trauma, or an avenue to process loss and grief.
In addition, Racette will discuss how artists try to make their spaces welcoming to reduce clients’ anxieties, as well as how to support those with different needs and concerns through thoughtful language.
