Exhibition: Queer Newfoundland Hockey League (by Lucas Morneau)
Queer Newfoundland Hockey League (QNHL) is a fictional hockey league made up of fourteen teams, all of which use pejoratives used against the 2SLGBTQIA+ community as team names. Through crocheted and rug hooked hockey jerseys, queered hockey cards, and crocheted goalie masks, artist Lucas Morneau (they/he) reclaims slurs often used against queer individuals both on and off the ice.
The artist would like to acknowledge ArtsNL and Canada Council for their support of this project.
