Last Mountain Art Collective: My View-Your View-Our View
When an artist begins to create an image, whether it be from something they are viewing or something imagined, they are interpreting it in a personal manner, they are expressing their view. Once completed and presented to others there may be a difference in how it is seen. Each of us has the ability to assess the work of others and interpret it in our own unique way. That can be accepted as your view. This is an elemental function of art, to solicit a variety of viewpoints and spark discussion. When the artist and the viewer reach harmony in thought and appreciation and it is widely accepted as the appropriate interpretation it becomes our view. Art that spurs controversy is successful, art that unites our thoughts is equally successful. Art brings people together through interaction, a lovely result of the creative process.
