Workshop | Make a Motanka Doll
Discover the tradition of the motanka, a handmade Ukrainian folk doll created by wrapping and tying fabric rather than sewing. For generations, motanky have been made as symbols of protection, hope, and continuity, with each doll reflecting the maker’s intentions and creativity.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn traditional motanka-making techniques while creating your own 10-inch doll to take home.
Guided step by step, you’ll work with fabrics, thread, and decorative materials provided by the Museum. You’re also welcome to bring meaningful fabrics, ribbons, herbs, or other small items to personalize your creation.
No previous experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. Ages 12+
