Maintenance Assistant (Term – Summer 2026)

General Description
Reporting to the Museum Manager, the Maintenance Assistant’s main responsibility will be to support the care of the facility’s grounds, building, and equipment. The Maintenance Assistant will ensure that the building and grounds are esthetically pleasing and safe for visitors. They will also assist with the set-up of special events and functions. Occasional weekend and holiday work is required.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Grounds maintenance including grass cutting, weeding, tree & shrub trimming, and general cleanliness.
• Building custodial duties including shop area maintenance and facility garbage disposal.
• General maintenance of grounds equipment and shop tools.
• Assistance with set up and take down of special events and functions held at the Museum.
• Conducts safety checks and maintains required documentation.
• Basic building maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Knowledge and experience in grounds maintenance is an asset.
• Class 5 driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
• Computer skills and ability to complete WHMIS certification.
• Willing to work weekends and stat holidays.

Conditions
• Wage: $17.48/hour
• Work schedule: 70 hours per 2 week pay period, may include weekends or stat holidays
• Employment term: Immediate start date, term ends on August 28, 2026
• Employee Benefits: As per WDM Human Resources Policies
• Hours of work: 8:45 am to 4:15 pm. Shifts include weekdays and occasional weekend and stat holiday work.
• Location: WDM Yorkton, Hwy 16A West
