Wartime Rationing Seek and Find
Join us at the Western Development Museum - Moose Jaw during the month of November to take part in a special seek and find in honour of Remembrance Day to learn about rationing.
People in Canada had to ration their food (which means to use less of it) during the First and Second World Wars so that more food could be sent to the troops who were fighting overseas. People were creative and tried to use different things to make their baking taste good, even if they couldn’t use their regular ingredients because of the rationing.
There are 11 photos of items from the WDM collection hidden in the Museum galleries; each of them is an ingredient that is used in a recipe for a wartime rations cake recipe. Pick up an activity sheet in the lobby, then visit the galleries to find them all. Fill in the spaces provided on the back of the sheet to identify where you spotted them and receive a WDM button and a copy of the recipe you can try at home.
This activity is included with regular Museum admission. For more information, please call 306-693-5989 or visit https://wdm.ca/remembrance/
