Public Discussion | Prodigal Daughter: A Journey to Byzantium with Myrna Kostash

Over the past several months, members of the Museum’s book club have been meeting by Zoom to read and discuss Prodigal Daughter: A Journey to Byzantium by Myrna Kostash. This 2010 epic travel memoire and spiritual odyssey begins in Edmonton, travels through the Balkans, and leads to a renewed engagement with Byzantium and the Eastern Christian tradition. Central to the narrative is Kostash’s encounter with the icon of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica and a deep questioning of inherited faith, history, and belonging.

We are thrilled to invite the public to join a concluding in-person conversation with book club members as well as Myrna Kostash, the author herself. This evening offers a chance to hear how the book resonated with readers over time, to reflect together on its questions and ideas, and to take part in a thoughtful, open discussion with the author present.

Tea and treats will be served. No registration required. All are welcome.
