Queen City Musubi is hosting an open workshop to introduce Yosakoi, a vibrant and energetic style of Japanese dance.
Yosakoi blends traditional Japanese movements with modern music and powerful choreography, creating an expressive and high-energy performance style. Originating in Japan, it has been rapidly growing in popularity around the world, with teams now performing across Asia, Europe, and North America.
We are excited to welcome Yuhei Shimada from Vancouver as our special guest instructor. Yuhei is the founder of APPARE Yosakoi Vancouver, a well-known Yosakoi team that has performed across North America and at Osaka Expo last year. During this workshop, Yuhei will showcase what Yosakoi is all about and guide participants through the basics.
This workshop is a great opportunity to experience Yosakoi for the first time—and we’re also happy to share that regular Yosakoi practices will begin on Sundays going forward for those who would like to continue.
To ensure a meaningful experience, attendance is limited to 20 participants. A $10 non-refundable fee per person is required to secure your spot. This helps prevent no-shows, and all proceeds will go toward Yuhei’s honorarium.
Come dance, move, and discover the energy of Yosakoi with us! 🌸🕺💃
