Indigenous Storytelling Month

Please join us as we celebrate Indigenous storytelling month with special guests, the Mother Teresa Middle School (MTMS) Buffalo Boys drum and singing group, featuring local Indigenous youth sharing their love of stories and song. Evan and Kadence Whitestar will share stories of the drum and the songs as the founders of the Buffalo Boys drum group.

They will share their style of traditional First Nations music and its teachings within our community. The drum group was developed with support from the Mother Teresa Middle School.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Evan is Cree from the Pasqua First Nation. Evan has been a drum keeper in the surrounding communities for the past 25 years. He is a song composer and is always willing to share or teach the values of the drum to the next generation.

Kadence is a 2nd year University of Regina student studying psychology. He is a Luther High School graduate and an MTMS alumni. Over the past 4 years, Kadence has joined his father, Evan, in guiding and teaching the next generation of Buffalo Boys, including living and teaching all the values of the drum. He is truly a role model and inspiration to the younger generation.
