Artists in Conversation: Erin Suliak & Vanessa Hyggen
Join artists Erin Suliak and Vanessa Hyggen for a conversation on art and the environment—how creative work can draw attention to ecological change and shape our relationship to the places we live. Moving between Ukrainian and Cree traditions, they’ll reflect on practices rooted in the natural world and their relevance today.
Erin Suliak is a Yellowknife-based artist whose work explores place, memory, and material, incorporating gathered natural and industrial elements.
Vanessa Hyggen, a Cree/Norwegian artist, former Artist-in-Residence at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, and muskeg protector from Lac La Ronge Indian Band, works across textiles, beadwork, and painting.
