International Francophonie Day

March 20

Celebrated on March 20 to mark the anniversary of the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation (ACCT) in Niamey, Niger in 1970, which was the beginning of Francophone cooperation and the beginning of the foundation of the International Organization of La Francophonie.  The day is a celebration of the French language and underscores the potential of language and culture's role in uniting people across the world.
