Position Summary: The primary role of the Custodian is to ensure daily operational tasks are accomplished and aid The Broadway management team in the upkeep, cleanliness and building maintenance of the Broadway Theatre.

The ideal Custodian will possess:
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic math skills
Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
Communication skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work at particular heights
Outstanding communications skills – written and verbal
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
Detail Oriented, Maintenance Experience, Understanding of Building Codes and Safety Regulations
Ability to Set and Meet Goals,
Results Oriented Behaviour
Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills
Demonstrated sensitivity to, and interest in, working with individuals/groups from diverse social, economic, political, and cultural backgrounds.
A minimum of two years of related professional experience.

Core Duties:

Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
Performs routine maintenance activities.
Updating and maintaining the outdoor marquee messaging on a daily basis
Performs heavy cleaning duties.
Gather and sort recycling
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors and countertops, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies
Gathers and empties trash.
Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
Notify building manager regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Snow removal from front and back entrances when needed


Wage, Hours and Benefits:

The Custodian wage is set at $19.00/hour. Cost of living increases are reviewed annually, but not guaranteed.
The Custodian is a permanent, part-time position at 20 hours per week with hours being mon-fri from 8am-12noon however, hours worked and weekly schedules are flexible based on other personal commitments as they arise.
The Custodian will earn vacation at a rate of “total hours worked X 3/52” (as per Government of Saskatchewan employment standards.
The Custodian will earn 3 sick days per year.

Other:

Employees are not required to work on all Canadian statutory holidays as well as Easter Monday and the holiday season (December 24 to 31).
The ideal Custodian will be based in Saskatoon.
This position requires the employee to be fully on-site to carry out duties as outlined above.
