Description
The Director of Sales & Patron Services is a senior leadership role responsible for growing Globe Theatre’s earned revenue and attendance, while stewarding meaningful, welcoming, and mission-driven patron experiences. Working at the intersection of commerce and culture, this role is designed for someone who deeply values the live arts—especially theatre, in a community and understands that audience development, artistic risk, and financial sustainability are interdependent.
This position leads all sales activity across the organization, with a mandate to increase overall attendance and revenue through thoughtful strategy, deep knowledge of patrons, and rigorous analysis of sales and attendance data. Central to this work is the understanding that not all productions serve the same function: some introduce new audiences, some deepen relationships, some advance artistic or community priorities, and some generate significant revenue. Together, these form a long arc of audience growth and sustainability.
The Director oversees the Box Office and Front of House functions, with direct reports including the Box Office Supervisor and Front of House Supervisor. They work closely with the Executive Director and Artistic Director to understand the intent, themes, and context of each season’s programming, and to translate that work clearly and compellingly to the public.
This role also requires sensitivity to the unique character of Regina and Saskatchewan — including its demographics, histories, communities, and relationship to live performance — and the ability to connect Globe Theatre’s work to local audiences while situating it within the broader Canadian theatre landscape.
This position is ideal for a leader who brings strong business acumen alongside a commitment to audience experience: someone who builds systems and teams, while also creating pathways for patrons to understand why the work on Globe’s stages matters.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth
· Serve as the organizational lead for earned revenue and attendance, including single tickets, subscriptions, group sales, and ancillary sales.
· Develop and execute sales strategies that grow attendance, revenue, and community reach, balancing short-term performance with long-term audience development.
· Work closely with the Executive Director and Artistic Director to align sales planning with programming choices, artistic priorities, and Globe Theatre’s mission.
· Build, launch, and scale a robust group sales program, including corporate, community, education, and tourism-related initiatives.
· Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure campaigns, pricing, promotions, and messaging reflect both sales goals and the intent of the artistic work.
· Lead pricing strategy, scaling, promotions, and inventory management across the season, balancing access, affordability, and revenue.
· Recognize that some productions may not maximize revenue in the short term, but play a critical role in broadening audiences, deepening engagement, and advancing Globe Theatre’s artistic and community mandate — and incorporate this understanding into season-long forecasting and planning.
Data, Analytics & CRM Excellence
· Maintain a laser-sharp focus on sales tracking, analysis, and reporting, using data to inform strategy and continuous improvement.
· Lead the effective use of Globe Theatre’s CRM, with a strong preference for Tessitura experience.
· Ensure accurate, consistent, and strategic use of patron data across departments.
· Produce regular sales, revenue, and patron insight reports for internal stakeholders and leadership.
· Use CRM insights to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, feeding analysis directly back into new sales initiatives.
Box Office & Front of House Oversight
· Provide strategic leadership to the Box Office and Front of House operations, ensuring efficient systems and exceptional customer service.
· Support the Box Office Supervisor in ticketing operations, policies, staff training, and performance management.
· Support the Front of House Supervisor in creating welcoming, safe, and inclusive patron experiences.
· Ensure Box Office and FOH policies align with accessibility requirements, best practices, and Globe Theatre values.
People Leadership & Cross-Departmental Collaboration
· Lead, mentor, and support direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
· Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Development, Finance, Production, and Facilities to support organizational goals.
· Partner with Finance to ensure accurate reconciliation, reporting, and financial controls related to ticket sales and FOH revenue.
· Contribute as a member of Globe Theatre’s senior leadership team, supporting organization-wide planning and strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
· Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in sales, ticketing, patron services, or revenue leadership, preferably in the performing arts, cultural sector, or live events.
· Demonstrated success in driving sales growth and developing new revenue streams.
· Strong CRM experience required; Tessitura experience is a significant asset.
· Proven ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable sales strategies.
· Experience leading and managing staff, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
· Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
· A genuine appreciation for the live arts, particularly theatre, and an understanding of how audience experience and revenue generation intersect.
· Availability for occasional evening and weekend work aligned with performance schedules.
Compensation & Benefits
· Salary range: $75,000 – $89,000, commensurate with experience.
· Comprehensive health and wellness benefits package.
· Group RRSP with employer matching.
· Generous paid time off.
· Complimentary tickets to Globe Theatre productions.
· Dog-friendly office environment.
