Heritage Educator
Diefenbaker Canada Centre, Saskatoon

The Diefenbaker Canada Centre is recruiting 4 full-time Heritage Educators to support a variety of exciting educational and outreach initiatives planned for the spring and summer. Heritage Educators will deliver educational programming and provide guided tours of the USask campus and DCC exhibit galleries. They will develop and deliver engaging summer youth camps in July and August, and participate in community outreach events hosted at the DCC and throughout Saskatoon. Positions are 16 weeks, 35 hours per week starting May 6 through August 28, 2026.
Candidates must be current undergraduate university students who have completed at least two years of study; preferred fields are education, political or international studies, history, or other humanities fields. The candidates must be returning to full-time studies in the fall.
The ideal candidates will be passionate about Canadian history and appreciate engaging with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Candidates must have experience and enjoy working with youth and have some general familiarity with, or the willingness to learn, the following skillset:
-Culturally aware and a desire to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Strong research skills and the ability to learn and retain historical information
-Flexible and able to adapt to change in a fast-paced setting
-Organizational skills and the ability to set and adhere to work priorities
-An understanding of Canadian and Indigenous history, governance, and politics
-Ability to set and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects and to take initiative
-Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
-A commitment to exceptional customer service, including a tactful, responsive, pleasant, and effective manner in person, phone, and email communication
-Ability to problem-solve effectively in an independent manner
-Advanced computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office, Zoom, and PowerPoint. Experience with graphic design software is beneficial.
Additional Considerations:
-Reliable transportation is required. Some travel within the greater Saskatoon area may be necessary.
-This position requires flexibility and will include weekend shifts. Regular May and June shifts will run Tuesday to Saturday; July and August shifts will run Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday depending on assigned role. Additional work hours may be assigned as needed.
-Previous work experience with summer camp programming or working with young audiences would be considered a strong asset
-The ability to communicate in French (written and oral) would be considered an asset.
