The Saskatchewan German Council (SGC) is an umbrella organization representing nearly 30 member groups. Our mission is to create and share experiences of German culture in Saskatchewan and make them accessible to everyone.

The Cultural Development Assistant supports the development of cultural materials, programs, and events that provide engaging cultural experiences, promote German culture, and foster cross-cultural understanding.

As part of the office team, the Cultural Development Assistant works closely with the Executive Director and the Office & Program Assistant to support programs, events, communications, and the smooth day-to-day operations of the Saskatchewan German Council.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Cultural Development Assistant is responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to:
• Support staff with the planning and coordination of SGC programs and projects.
• Produce videos for SGC’s YouTube channel, including filming and editing cultural content.
• Assist with the planning and organization of events such as the Treffpunkt member meeting and Family Fun Day celebrating Canadian Multiculturalism Day.
• Write, edit, and proofread articles on various aspects of SGC’s cultural activities for publication in the Postillion magazine.
• Assist with public relations activities and general office duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge related to German language studies, culture, history, and/or communications.
• Experience producing videos for YouTube.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to set and achieve goals.
• Effective research and writing skills.
• Knowledge of the German language is an asset.
• Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
• Be between15 to 30 years of age at the start of employment;
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
• Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;
• Not be an international student

Hours: 32 hours/week for 8 weeks, in-person at the SGC office in Saskatoon
Salary: $16.50/hour
