January 4 Marks the First National Ribbon Skirt Day

Starting in 2023, January 4 will mark National Ribbon Skirt Day. The day was inspired by Isabella Kulak, a member of Cote First Nation in Saskatchewan, who was shamed at school for wearing her ribbon skirt to a formal wear day. Her story sparked solidarity across the country, with Indigenous women wearing their ribbon skirts in support. Read more.
