The Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association’s vision is to equip youth with the skills and tools needed to be better citizens and future leaders through speech and debate. The goal is to train young people to be effective communicators, deep thinkers and engaged community members. At the E.C. Leslie Provincial Debate Championships students who have qualified throughout the debate season will compete for provincial titles. The prepared resolution to be debated is, this house would allow cameras in courtroom. The theme of the impromptu resolutions is law. SEDA would like to thank the Law Foundation of Saskatchewan for sponsoring this event. Winners will go on to represent Saskatchewan at the Junior and Senior National Debate Championships.
Spectators are welcome to watch the debate rounds from 9 AM to 4:30 PM in the Arts Building at the University of Saskatchewan. A lunch ticket is $10. If you wish to attend the Open Final and the awards banquet at Marquis hall, the cost is $35. Seating is limited, if you are interested in attending the banquet please email the SEDA office at info@saskdebate.com. Also, SEDA always welcome volunteer judges at our events! A judges training session the morning of the tournament helps prepare you provide feedback to debaters. If interested, please contact he office.
