Saskatchewan-born comedians André Roy and Gilles Denis return to their home province with Everything is Beautiful, the English adaptation of Prends mes yeux, tu vas voir by playwright France Levasseur-Ouimet. Something magical happens when these two grizzled actors take the stage! Robert, a grumpy old man, spends a lot of time in front of the local school hoping to get a glimpse of his grandson. His good friend Jean sits next to him, trying to bolster his spirits. As they flow from depression to ecstasy, laughing and crying, it occurs to them that they look quite silly sitting side by side, heads down, on a bench in a park. They decide to reject the darkness, to enjoy life and to try to remain relevant. Above all, there is hope. These two seniors educate, entertain and inspire with truth, compassion and a lot of humour. André and Gilles have toured French communities across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario over the last 10 years. They have presented a variety of plays and theatre workshops to great acclaim. Gilles is a multi-faceted performer, comedian, teacher and director. André has recently been awarded the Prix Lumière by the Regroupement artistique francophone de l’Alberta, a group dedicated to the promotion of professional cultural and artistic activities in French. In 2018, the duo received the Eugène C.-Trottier Prize for Visibility from the Association Canadienne-française de l’Alberta. France is a prolific writer and composer who is recognized internationally and has received the YMCA Community Service Awardand the prestigious Ordre des francophones d’Amérique. Together they continue to explore the theme of aging with grace and vitality.
