"Common Territory: Indigenous and Newcomer Stories of Belonging" film screening

Free community screening of Common Territory: Indigenous and Newcomer Stories of Belonging at the Gallery on Thursday, May 29 at 6pm.

In partnership with Connecting Grids Regional Immigration Partnership, Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre, and the Horizon School District, the Humboldt Gallery is hosting a free independent documentary that explores cultural preservation, assimilation, and connection in unceded territories. The documentary weaves together the stories of newcomers and Indigenous peoples, exploring themes of displacement, belonging, and cultural preservation within the traditional territories of the Stó:lō peoples, known colonially as the Fraser Valley.

After the film, there will be a discussion with Elders and Newcomers from our region to discuss what these communities have in common. Everyone welcome!

This event is also supported by Chilliwack Local Immigration Partnership, Chilliwack Independent Film Festival, Bear Image Productions, Chilliwack Community Services, and Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
