In an increasingly global and industrialized world, how often do you know exactly where your clothing comes from? To create the textiles in this new exhibition at the Saskatchewan Craft Council, local artists worked with Saskatchewan ranchers and shepherds to source their wool. Many can even name the individual sheep whose fleece was used in their work!
Prairie Fibre – Full Circles is a group exhibition showcasing Saskatchewan fibre art, including wall hangings, sculptures, and garments such as scarves, socks, and shawls. The show was organized by Jude Haraldson through Prairie Fibreshed, an organization that promotes circular textile processes. All works in the show were handmade using natural fibre materials grown and processed in our province. The result is a truly local, sustainable, and quintessentially Saskatchewan collection of textile art.
