In Carousel of Time, emerging artist Janaya McCallum explores the passing of time through vibrant landscapes and still life, focusing on prairie identity, heritage, and our relationship with the land. Her work features the beauty of the “kokum scarf” or “hustka,” reflecting its intertwined Ukrainian and Indigenous roots.
McCallum’s art invites viewers to reconnect with the land and their memories through vivid depictions of geese, scarves, farmland, and mountains, evoking nostalgia.
