Collected: 90 Years, 90 Objects. Celebrating 90 Years of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada
Opening in October, Collected: 90 Years, 90 Objects brings together 90 objects from the Museum’s permanent collection to tell the story of nine decades of collecting, preserving, and interpreting Ukrainian culture in Canada.
The exhibition reaches back to the Museum’s earliest collections and traces the changing lives and experiences of Ukrainian Canadians over generations. Clothing, textiles, religious and ceremonial objects, photographs, artworks, household objects, and other items reveal not only the histories of the people who made and used them, but also the story of how and why they came to be preserved.
Together, the 90 objects explore migration and settlement, family and community life, faith and tradition, cultural continuity and change, and the enduring connections between Ukraine and Canada.
