Goth explores the quiet, ironic parallels between two seemingly disparate moments in time: the rise of the Germanic Goths and their role in the fall of the Roman Empire, and the resurgence of modern goth fashion in an era defined by global uncertainty and cultural fatigue. Rather than offering a direct historical comparison, Goth uses these two moments as poetic symbols with each marked by transformation, ambiguity, and the aestheticization of decline. Through eight paintings by artist Nathan White, the exhibition reflects on what it means to inhabit a world on the edge of change, and how style, identity, rebellion, and myth-making serve as responses to societal collapse.
