Job Title: Communications Assistant
Type: 7-month contract, 27 hrs/week OR 6-month contract, 31.5 hrs/week (Flexible hours)
Rate: $22/hr
Location: In-person at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada (Saskatoon)

Position Overview
The Ukrainian Museum of Canada is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Communications Assistant to support the launch of our new website and refreshed visual identity. Working under the supervision of the Communications Manager, this role blends social media support, content creation, and graphic design to help strengthen the museum’s public presence. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about arts, culture, and heritage, with a versatile skill set in communications, digital content creation, and visual design.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Assistance
• Assist in the development of social media campaigns tied to tourism experiences, exhibitions, and programs
• Track analytics and collaborate on reporting and optimization strategies
• Assist with day-to-day scheduling and publishing of content on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms
Content Development
• Support consistent use of the museum’s refreshed brand voice and visual identity across platforms
• Draft engaging copy for e-newsletters, media releases, website content, and exhibition/event materials
Graphic Design
• Design visual content for print and digital use, including social media posts, posters, signage, and donor materials
• Assist in the preparation of visual assets that reflect new brand guidelines
• Edit and format photos and/or basic video clips for public-facing use
General Support
• Capture photo/video content at museum events (occasional evenings/weekends)
• Support communications planning and content calendar development
• Provide support for public outreach, communication, and marketing projects as needed
Qualifications
• Familiarity with content creation tools (photo/video editing, templates, Canva, etc.)
• Experience with social media management and basic performance tracking
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and/or Figma
• Highly organized, with a proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and content streams while meeting deadlines
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English
• Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) or newsletter tools (e.g., Mailchimp) is a plus
• Interest in or knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Ukrainian Canadian culture is a strong asset
• Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a team environment
