BPES is a Black-led nonprofit committed to creating professional and entrepreneurial opportunities for Black individuals in Saskatchewan. Our mandate includes advocacy, community development, cultural programming, and capacity building.
About the Program:
The Black Leadership Mentorship and Training Program in Arts and Culture is a grant-funded initiative supported by Canadian Heritage’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program (MARP). The program will empower 25 Black youth and professionals in Saskatoon and Regina through mentorship, leadership workshops, workplace research, and advocacy aimed at systemic change within Saskatchewan’s arts, culture, and heritage sectors.
Position Summary:
BPES is seeking a Program Manager to lead a multi-component initiative that combines mentorship, leadership development, workplace research, and advocacy. The Program Manager will oversee planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and program evaluation, ensuring impactful delivery for Black professionals and cultural workers across Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead mentorship program implementation (recruitment, mentor-mentee matching, support).
Coordinate leadership workshops in Saskatoon and Regina, including logistics and facilitator engagement.
Build strong relationships with artists, cultural organizations, and arts councils.
Facilitate mentor-mentee check-ins and networking opportunities.
Support workplace research surveys and advocacy efforts with cultural institutions.
Collect feedback, track outcomes, and prepare reports for funders and stakeholders.
Manage budgets, documentation, and program records.
Qualifications:
Required:
Post-secondary degree or experience in Program/Project Management, Social Sciences, Arts & Culture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5 years’ experience managing programs in community, mentorship, or cultural sectors.
Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Experience with research coordination and program evaluation.
Financial literacy with budget tracking and reporting experience.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or project management tools.
Flexibility to travel and cultural awareness to work with diverse communities.
Preferred:
Lived experience or strong familiarity with the realities of Black professionals in arts and culture in Saskatchewan.
Experience facilitating mentorship or leadership programs.
Familiarity with arts organizations, cultural institutions, and heritage sectors in Saskatchewan.
Experience working with grant-funded projects, data tracking, or survey tools.
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset, especially for engagement with Francophone Black communities.
Working Conditions:
Based out of the BPES Community Hub in Saskatoon.
Some travel within Saskatchewan (primarily to Regina).
Occasional evening and weekend hours required for workshops and mentorship events.
Flexible hybrid work environment (in-person for key events and meetings, virtual where appropriate).
